Motorcycles Only Swap Meet 2007

Brian Forth reports…

Sunday 7th October was the big day out for the Veteran and Vintage Motorcycle Club of South Australia. The club’s “Motorcycle only swap meet” was held at the picturesque Balhannah Oval.

I arrived at 6.45am, met at the seller’s gate by Carolyn Jenner and her band of helpers. I saw that there were plenty traders already on the oval and the traffic flow into the grounds was smooth and well organized.

Parking on the oval was excellent with a good coverage of grass, but it was seriously cold. The local football club and Onkaparinga netball team catered for the crowd with excellent egg and bacon sandwiches, cakes and drinks. The oval quickly filled with traders and buyers and I think everyone had a great day. The weather was cool and brisk, so I guess those who slept there overnight would have found it a tad cool, the day was excellent and trading completed.

The bike display of VVMCCSA and the BSA Owners Club of SA members was excellent, the large area allowed the bikes to be spread out allowing the patrons to admire and photograph them – which motorcycle club will be honoured to join the club next year?

I personally like to thank all club members and friends that helped “The Honourable” Peter Yates make the day go smoothly, they manned the gates, ushered in the traders and buyers, corralled the motorcycle display and manned the club stand – thank you.

The 2008 Motorcycles Only Swap Meet will be held at the Balhannah Oval, Sunday October 5, 2008. See you there!
