Breakfast Run January 2007

From Brian Forth

Under the trees at Uraidla

Well, what happened to the sunny summer days? Hughie decided that our summer was a good time to replenish the water supply, assist those dry gardens and lawns, and give some much needed rain for the farmers and this dry parched land, although some areas received to much to quickly. But he forgot about the VVMCCSA breakfast run, but what the heck we have wet weather gear and will ride our bikes in any weather?

A few brave souls gathered with ‘Captain Rob’ at 7am at Sir Lewis Cowen Drive and rode to Uraidla for a breakfast supplied by the local netball club ladies, by all reports they were very satisfied with the spread.

Well suited up!

At 9am, Rob summoned the riders, and light rain began to fall as we rode off for Hahndorf Swap Meet. We arrived as planned, re-grouped under the Princess Highway Bridge and rode in convoy to the oval and entered in grand style. The oval was wet and soggy oval and parked our bikes. The numbers of VVMCCSA members were down this year probably because of the inclement weather. Members wondered around for a wile in the misty rain looking for something to take home?

Captain Rob, Bob Kretschmer, young Brian “Nipper’ Kuerschner and I attended at Chris Lang’s site. Chris presented an item to us and asked us to identify what this was used for. No one knew, even the mercurial Captain Rob was stumped, photos is attached, can anyone have an idea what is it usage?

Strange item - any ideas?
